The town of San Pedro de Atacama at an altitude of approx. 2400 metres, is a staging point for visiting some of Chiles most exciting landscapes such as Altiplano Lakes, the El Tatio Geysers and Valle de la Luna, all of which are at higher elevations and its best to acclimatise before starting out on long journeys.
