Maligne Lake
Maligne Lake is in Jasper National Park, about 50km from Jasper town. The colour of the water, the snow clad surrounding mountains and glaciers flowing down towards the lake, have helped to make it a popular tourist location. Spirit Island, a small islet about half way along the length of the lake is frequented by the small cruise boats and canoe paddlers. The Lake is approx. 23 km long and 35m deep, though it drops to close to 100m at its deepest point.

Maligne Lake
During the summer and early autumn, Maligne Lake with its amazing colour is easily accessible from Jasper on the tarmacked road. Though when the snows arrive the road is well frozen over and the lakes are frozen solid for many meters.

Lake Cruise
One of the easiest ways if exploring the lake is by cruise boat. These boats depart throughout the day and take you as far as Spirit Island, where passengers can disembark onto the shore which over looks the island. The visitors are prohibited from accessing this tiny island.
