Atherton Tablelands
The southern tablelands of the Atherton plateau are fertile and the mild climate due to its altitude (600 to 1200 metres) makes it the prime dairylands in Queensland. While driving through the area, one passes many dairy farms and milk bars. Yungaburra and the waterfall and lake district nearby are becoming popular tourist destinations.

Yungaburra
Yungaburra is a small town on the Atherton Plateau, popular with tourist. From the town, there is easy access to the waterfall circuit and the crater lakes. Though a hidden gem in the town is the small creek which runs passed it and is the home to a number of platypus families.

Over 17,000 years ago Lake Barrine was formed when a large volcano erupted, leaving a massive crater. This crater filled up with water over a long period and the lake was formed.
